Due to an impending change in the Elk Grove Village Zoning Laws earlier this year, I would have been unable to open my own free-standing massage therapy business. Thankfully, we became aware of this the day it was to occur, so we 'called up the troops and stormed the fort!'

Massage School and a Business Plan
Oh, Drs. Coe and Hodges' dreaded class of Business during our third and last trimester at National University of Health Sciences, in Lombard, IL, where the majority of the grade was based on a business plan we had to write, regardless of whether we were going to work at a spa, a chiropractor's office, a salon, do out-calls, or open our own place.
This business plan was to be quite detailed: the planned city, demographics, licensing requirements, competition, target clients, types of practice and techniques, start up, monthly and yearly expenses. We were to include our goals, continuing education, plans laid out from the start...6 months...1 year...2 years...3 years...5 years.
Some people whipped it out over the weekend, just throwing it together to get it done. Others meticulously labored for hours and hours, weeks and weeks, realizing that this was in preparation for their actual massage therapy business.
Looking back over all of that work of almost a year ago, yes, I am thankful for that challenging assignment, for the effort I put into it, specifically because I am now about to open up my very own, free-standing, massage therapy business, Pusateri Massage Therapy Center at 60 Turner Ave., Suite 1-2E, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.
